About our Dojo

Located in the capital city of Austin, Texas the Austin Bujinkan Tanemaki Dojo provides training in the Japanese martial arts known as Budo Taijutsu and Ninjutsu.

I have chosen the name "Tanemaki" for our dojo to honor Soke (the Grandmaster). "Tanemaki" means to "sow, or plant seeds". Soke has compared the Bujinkan to a garden. Dr. Maasaki Hatsumi, Soke (Grandmaster) mentioned that everywhere he goes, he "sows seeds". Some seeds come up as flowers, others come up as weeds and some don't come up at all.

Our student body is a beautiful "garden", full of bright, friendly, and cheerful people. Come join us - IT"S FUN!

2007 Update

On September 17, 2007 we opened our new indoor, air-conditioned dojo. The response was overwhelming! I had so many students show up, we spilled out of the dojo and into the surrounding area. Now, we can train indoors anytime we like again. Our new dojo is quite small, yet is a very good start.

Most of our students still like training outdoors, as do I. Shown here is Matt and James. James (R) owns J-Armory, and supplies us with really good swords.
