Texas Bamboo Society Festival

I have a habit of letting my students try out my many swords so that they can get a feel for the differences between one type or another.

Here, Cody san performs a very good cut using my Angel Sword "chokuto "- straight, single edged sword.

This particular sword has over 2000 + cuts over a three year period of testing. It has no warps, and only needed sharpening once. The most damage it sustained is a little bit of scuffing.

Here, one of the suppliers of bamboo for furniture gave me a piece of bamboo to cut. Most bamboo over six-weeks old has too many minerals in it to make it a good practice target.

This piece was so tough, it took me two tries before I could sever it!

As you can see, this is a dry piece, and fresh, green bamboo is a better choice.

I am shown here using my Last Legend Mk. 5.

Sometimes, you need the right tool for the job. Here, I switched to my Angel Sword Chokuto for the next big piece of bamboo.

As you can see, the sword cleanly cut the stalk, but the cutting stand didn't fair so well....
