Next, it was on to the cyro-tempering room! Freezing at sub-zero temperatures has long been used to enhance the durability and tensile strenght of steel. For swords, it also improves the grain structure. Master Daniel discusses a little information about using extreme cold in the tempering of steel.

The most fun for my students was the chance to handle the edged weapons in the Angelsword collection! From the modern to the ancient, it was an experience they will never forget. For myself, I love to see each student's personality shine when they found the blade they called "my sword!".

Alex Sensei, a true devotee of the naginata, naturally went straight to one of the many models of this excellent Japanese polearm.

Matt and his rapierMatt san opted for a swept hilt rapier. Having fenced with him several times (I had the bruises to prove it!) this would be a truly deadly weapon in Matt's hands.

Charles and a chopperCharles Sempai has cut with many of my own personal swords. (yes, I actually allow my students to try out my swords during suemonogiri). He was very impressed with my Bastard swords and especially my Del Tin Falchion. Here, he found a two-handed chopper. He bought it!

Angel with katanaAngel san found an Angelsword with his name on it!
